Representative Henry Waxman has introduced a bill (HR 1256) giving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the ability to regulate tobacco. This bill would:
>Divert resources away from the FDA's core mision of protecting food and drugs.
>Prevent tobacco manufacturers from giving adult tobacco consumers accurate information about different products that may reduce the risk of using tobacco.
>Not provide a regulatory framework that would significantly reduce tobacco-related death and disease.
