Conclusion
As we can observe there are many reasons behind the myths and legends of vampirism in the modern world but we as a modern society have to ask ourselves of the possibility of why Renfield Syndrome is not formally recognised and are legends and myths really based upon fact or is it fiction or is it really just an excuse to give behaviour and ideas and methods that we do not really understand to allow others to have an excuse to live in a fantasy life outside of what is deemed as a normal lifestyle.
The mental disorder of Clinical Vampirism is still a rare disorder that can be identified even though there are those that refuse to accept the fact that it is there and the work of Hershel Prins is a long way towards the acceptance of this disorder and the outcomes of Renfield syndrome has possibly affected many people through out history (see Appendix 1).
There is also a lot of medical analysis to be gathered on the Porphyria and the its treatment but new discoveries into the diagnosis of this rare but harrowing disease are being made every year.
It is the agreement of those that are affected by this disorder that there are not a lot of advisers upon these discoveries and how to live a normal lifestyle.
