At the Pearly gates Peter had returned from his meeting with Himself. Himself and Herself now knew that Death was acting up again. This wasnothing new to Him, his angels seemed bent on rebelliousness every few millinia or so.
Peter returned to the gate doors podiam, relieved Azrial, resuming his post beside the book of judgments.
"Excuse me, sir angel, do you recognize me in my human skin? Can I ask you a question?"
Peter looked up and saw a lost soul. How those tugged at his heart. On looking closer, he noticed none of the light that should have shone around a newly rehabilitated soul. They always had a light shining around them and a weariness that just begged for relief. " What in the world are you doing here? Where is your halo? In fact I should know you were coming, but I have no new name on my list."
" I'm lost sir angel, Death never came for me, and I dont know wht to do. I could cry if I could, but I dont think my soul can do that yet. Please tell me wht to do."
"Your a suicide, I can tell. You definitly dont belong here yet., and what do you mean Death hasnt come for you. By the look of your shriveled soul you should have been in hell long ago, attoining for your sins. If you dont get there soon, your going to shrivel out of existance and then where will you be? No where I tell you, nowhere. You dont want that, no siree. So lets have it again slowly, so I can figure out what I can or cant do."
And so the lost sould told Peter what he needed to know, from the moment ofher decision to slither wrists, to her visit with the angel Satan. " and you never saw Death? No ugly fellow with a black cowl and sickle, no misty fog and a waiting boat? are you sure you looked hard enough?"
Peter was frankly astounded. This had only happened once before in the history of Himself's life. Satan had decided he wanted more power, love and special treatment, so had rebelled ruining Himself's experiment on earth. Himself and Herself had spanked Satan haard, allowing him only those souls that had committed very evil acts, and putting him in charge of rehabilitating them. In return he got one small favor. He was allowed to influence if he could those souls residing in their shells on the earth. He could tempt, cheat, and promise empty rewards. But he couldnt keep them, he had to fix them and send them on their way. Himself was a wise and benevelent personna, as long as you followed the rules.
" Ok here's what I can do. You poor lost soul, go back to earth, look around, visit some folks, whatever. I will do what I can on this end and we will keep in touch."
With that Peter turned around and blew his horn. Azrial appeared almost immediately. " I need you to man the gate again, somethings come up." Azrial being a rehabilitated angel was anxious to do anything he could to prove himself to the Boss.
Marissa thought herself back to her home. Looking around everything seemed fine. But she really coulnt do anything. she had no corporeal body, so TV and Stereo was out, she couldnt turn them on. She couldnt eat, and she didnt really want to think about what souls do to rest. Since she was going to hell anyway, she might as well see if she could cause some mischief. Who has she, in life, really wanted to get back at?
