Changes

"Changes"

"The brain is a wonderful organ: it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office" - Robert Frost

_BRAIN.gif With all the changes going on here at: "CherryTAP" (god it's hard to use that name) Immediately I wanted to use the old name/logo: lostcherrywhite.jpg

That's just it ... what my BLOG is all about: "CHANGE"

The human mind doesn't process change quickly, but it is set up to adapt. Behavior scientist have been studying this for years. Often different studies come up with different theories. The one constant and common denominator would be the subject: Humans resist change! The left brain and the right brain have different processes as illustrated by MY graph below: braingraph.jpg A simple exercise would be just insert the word "CHANGE" in-between the categories of each brain side. See the how different either side of the word is? That's exactly how the brain reacts to change. The mind ... although specialist have theorize each sides thought process is hugely different, it has equaled out while processing any information. Each side is at harmony with the other you could say. Well, insert change and that disrupts the harmony (all hell breaks loose) We seen how people acted with the said change of the logo yesterday. That was a natural reaction. I think it could have easily been avoided with some advance warning. I'll give you an example of having WARNING of change -verses- no warning: You go to work like everyday, you get off work ... say you grab a couple of drinks with coworkers after. You get tipsy and then head home. Say you did that as a routine, 3-5 times a week. You get home and walk into a dark living room ... walking the same path as you do when you get to the house after the routine. smack! ... you crack your shin on something that's in the path that you are used to following. This sets all your senses in "over drive" ... a well traveled path that you are accustom to going has and unexpected block! First reaction after the shot of pain? "Anger" Then when you turn on the lights ... you see someone moved the furniture around! It might even look better, even could be all brand new stuff you really, really wanted ... but: "Damn it! Who moved the effin furniture around"? (That is as a 'common occurrence' as anything I could think of ...) Using the above ... Just think of the same sequence of event mentioned: After clicking on the lights, yelling from pain and initial surprise ... Insert - that someone reminding you before you headed off to work that day: "We are getting that new '__________' (insert the thing you've been dreaming of here) today. So I'm going to move stuff to make some room for it" Now, you just cracked your shin, you yell, get pissed ... Then you realize that you were warned Yes, there is a reaction of the CHANGE and it will take some getting used to. (but that's how the brain is set up)

.

I'll give a positive from this, it's one of growth. (and no ...not this sites growth) Change is actually good for the brain ... so with the right and left brain deciphering this change. It is like a little workout for your brain. It was once thought, that the human brain never produced more brain cells after birth ... You probably heard: "Don't waste your brain cells - they're all your ever have" In your lifetime from some old codger at one time or another. To clarify why change is good for the brain, using that old belief ... is how to explain: While testing in the old days on new brain cell production, they NEVER changed the proceeder or the surroundings of the test subjects while doing the studies. meaning: Same surrounding equaled no change in brain cell development ... Later in time, they did the same proceeders that all those studies when done, but with each new time line, they changed the surroundings. meaning: The brain produced new cells because it had to adjust to the "changes".

That's a little deep for the blog -- but, if you like interesting stories/studies like that (*ahem* willing to do something different) you can read more here: "How the brain works"

I had a delayed reaction to the logo change. I'm a "left brain" guy and can except change because I look at the reasoning. Then my "right brain" tussled with the left ... with a sudden thought of my "ARTISTIC" works that I spent many loving hours producing ... all now useless! I'm going to stand with my reaction to that ... Oh yeah. I'm PISSED! I'll get over it though.

Everyone will, but the thing about our thought process the left brain needs to ease the new item to the rights wave ... and hopefully both sides learn a lesson from this: "A little fare warning, might make cracking your shin more acceptable"
