AmrenIP turned in a record 1st quarter profit. Gas prices are on the rise while the oil companies are making money hand over fist and still asking for tax breaks and incentives. The stock market is hitting new record highs each month, yet only 49% of Americans own any stocks. What percent of them only own stock in there own company as part of profit sharing? The owner of my hotel, along with 2% of other rich Americans, gets a tax cuts and would like them to be permanent. We, the rest of us are told to conserve.
I use energy efficient light bulbs, yet my power bill still rises. I use less and less power in my home and yet my power bill still doubles. Yet, my power company turns in record profits.
I went from filling my car up once a week and taking random road trips to filling my car once every two weeks and taking few road trips and gas prices still go up. So I went to filling my car once a month and taking no road trips and I have not had a vacation since 1997 and now gas prices are hitting new record highs and showing no sign of lowering. The price of gas goes up and the price of everything else does to. Yet, the oil companies are making record profits.
I am one of the 51% of Americans who do not own any stocks. I just can not afford it. Working at $7.75 an hour does not afford much. So the rich just get richer, the middle class just hold on and the poor are left behind.
I am well below the 2% of Americans who got the tax cut. My boss/owner is not yet I still do not get a raise.
This is my call to arms to us 51% who own no stocks, have not gotten raises in a year and are just plain tired of our Government telling us to pull ourselves up by our boot straps as they knock out our foundation, give tax breaks to the rich and giving jobs to their already well off friends.
I say we form a new Union, an American Union. I say we all take a day off and just do not show up to work. What would happen if the working class of Americans just say we are not showing up to work till we have a seat at the big boys table? I have been in the serves industry most of my life, what would happen if everyone of use who work for a hotel just did not show up to work, if all those who work in restaurants just did not show up for work, if all those who work in retail do not show up for work and all those who drive for a living just stay home? We as the great country of America would just shut down. We are told we have no power; we are the ones with the power. We are told to live in fear, I say those who think that have the power should live in fear for a day, a week, a month. I say we stand up in non-violence and take our country of the people, by the people and for the people back.
