Part of some peoples gift
in bringing comfort
to those in anguish
lay in the
sensitive awareness
of when silence is best.
They are not vulnerable sympathizers,
quite the reverse.
At some point
during an outpouring of grief,
they would stretch out a hand
or both hands
and touch the person
on the arm or face.
