Bluebird, bluebird, I hear your song
way up on top of the hill.

Why did you fly in such a haste
away from my windowsill?

"I flew ahead of the storm," he said
with a peck and a hop and a trill.

"But the storm didn't come, you silly bird,
and I'll wager it never will."

"But the sky was black," came his muffled chirp,
"And the sun didn't show his face
and I couldn't sing without HIS smile
so I flew to another place."
