            The boardroom is glaringly bright with florescent white light. Summer sits at the table deep in thought, letting the voices of her colleagues fade into soft murmurings. She knows she she should be paying attention to the details of this meeting. It wouldn’t do to miss something crucial, but her mind continues to betray her will, so her thoughts keep wandering to more exciting things.

            Summer is, by her standards, a plain woman. Her personality, like her name, is as bright as warm sunshine. People are inexplicably drawn to her. She’s been told by a few in her inner circle that she exudes sex appeal, but she doesn’t see what they see. She chalks it up to being an extrovert. Still she remains humble, where others might become arrogant. Perhaps it’s her Southern upbringing coming through.

            Her thoughts reflect on the years of her life. She has had some experiences, that is for certain. She wonders how it has all lead her to this point, to this experience she now finds herself in. It is not an incredibly long life, but by some standards it has had a lifetime of dramatic adventures. Adventures like the one Summer currently finds herself on the precipice of right now.

            A day of meetings, coupled with dealing with the public has left Summer exhausted. She was happy when she walked into the small third story apartment. Kicking off her heels at the front door, she padded barefoot into the kitchen. Flipping on the light over the sink, she thinks about what she should eat tonight, not realizing until she heard her own voice that she was actually talking to herself. Summer always smiles to herself when she catches herself doing that and wonders if she also answers herself sometimes. She opens the refrigerator, quietly laughing at the old adage about answering one’s self and pull out a bottle of her Merlot from her favorite local winery.

            Left over Polynesian takeout from the night before stares at her from the second shelf. That seems as good as anything to eat. Pulling a wineglass from the cupboard, Summer pours a glass of wine and empties the contents of the food onto a plate. Setting the microwave for two minutes, she heated the Lo Mein and Spring Rolls to piping hot. Taking the plate and wine to the living room, Summer fires up the laptop. Time to enjoy her night with a little social media. While bringing up Fubar and Facebook, her cell phone buzzes on the coffee table. A text message. She grabs the phone, wondering who might be texting her Summer touches the text icon, immediately smiling to herself as she sees the sender. It’s Him!
