Sharkfin's blog: "Chaos"

created on 10/03/2006  |  http://fubar.com/chaos/b9661
Good Morning. Hopefully your weekend was wonderful. Mine was but, now it’s back to work. I seen this blurb on MSN about a Cockatoo that can talk, well that can repeat words it hears and does so pretty well, so well that Peaches that is the birds name is able to cuss like a shore bound sailor. ALBION, Ind. - People are being careful about their language around an 8-year-old named Peaches who has a habit of learning and repeating the worst she hears. Peaches is a Moluccan cockatoo, and staffers at Black Pine Animal Park say she used to be a pet in a household where she picked up a vocabulary that can be as colorful as her feathers. The bird didn’t miss anything when a volunteer construction worker started cussing recently after a chimp threw feces at him, said Jessica Price, senior zookeeper at the sanctuary about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne. “She started laughing and carrying on,” Price said. Peaches then reverted to a few of her own favorites. “Go away, shut up, shut your blankety-blank mouth,” Price said. “She says a lot of very bad words.” It is difficult to get birds to stop using words they have learned, she said. “We obviously don’t repeat them,” Price said. “We don’t encourage it.” Hmmm, image that someone taught an animal to swear. And all the years I have heard those talking Parrot jokes and thought no way… We traveled up north to a place called Clare, Michigan. There just outside Clare was a lake called Eight Point Lake which apparently received its name from an eight point buck no doubt. The cottage we stayed at was a family owned cottage of a couple of teachers we went north with. Fabulous, simply fabulous location. The neighbors were way to kind and the whole trip was very nice to say the least. We fished. Bonnie caught the largest fish all weekend an 2-1/2 pound Walleye which was scrumptious along with other odds and ends we fixed as a group. I made my famous, well perhaps not so famous but fabulous bacon wrapped baked potatoes along with some very good stuffed Jalapeños peppers on the grill. The peppers were stuffed with cream cheese and Genoa Salami. Doused with what’s this here sauce, Worcestershire sauce for those who don’t know me. I normally use soy sauce to line the peppers before grilling them. Peg another teacher along for the weekend and her husband Phil also helped out. All in all we had Steak, Shrimp, Walleye, Bacon Wrapped Baked Potatoes, Stuffed Peppers, and Salad which no one had room for because well...there just was too much food…Marvelous time. I love those times when everyone is involved in the making of the dinner. We often do that at home during Christmas as a family the kitchen is the size of lower Manhattan so we all can fix something while the other is fixing something. Not at all like while I was knee high to a grasshopper my mom was the chief chef and bottle washer who did all the meals unless she was sick and then she would be propped up to cook…lol just kidding…or perhaps not….I do not ever remember my father cooking anything more then Mac and Cheese…hmmm I made my famous Mac and Cheese prior to leaving for Mandy to have as dinner and snacks while we were up north. If anyone does not like Mac and Cheese just ask for my recipe on this it will certainly change your outlook on a predominately low cost kids type meal. Well that is basically it we boated and fished and laid out and did just about as much as one could and still called it relaxing. For now I must sign off and do reports, but the pic of Bonnies fish will be forth coming on a site or two..,, Happy Monday all. A huge Michigan Huge and a wild and aloof set of pats Marrtay
