Retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant, served from 1969 to 1990. After retirement came back home and went to work until they had a "youth move" and offered me early retirement which I happily took. I have two daughters that are grown (27 and 35) except when they need daddy or a free meal which is weekly; they claim it is to see me and offer to pay but I know better then that.

My dislikes are few. I am very open-minded and have my opinions but dislike people who mistake their opinion, views or beliefs as "the right ones". I HATE drama and especially the fake drama too many play here. I have traveled a bit and been to all continents except the Arctic and Antarctic and on three of those continents people have shot at me. I know drama and it does not exist on Fubar.
FYI My schedule here when I get on is:
1. Like and Rate Family. Daily
2. Like and Rate Friends (Right now daily though might have to start half one day and the rest the next).
3. Return drinks. (I do read messages on drink notifications so leave one if you want)
4. Read mail and Notifications.
My friends are an eclectic group and I send friend requests based on something in the profile or name interested me but very seldom decline a Friend Request. If another of my friends or family is not to your liking that is alright unless you bring the drama here; you tell me "You cannot be friends with her she's (insert verb here)" you are actually saying you cannot be a Friend to me and I will happily defriend and block you. Yes that has happened.
I will do whatever I can do to help anyone level or ask other friends to assist if I can't. You need anything let me know and I don't care if you can pay me back or not; the best pay back you can give me is to assist some one else when they ask.

I enjoy target shooting and have hunted in the past though don't anymore (boring since they weren't shooting back). I read a lot and play some on the computer besides that I relax and feed three dogs and three cats of mine plus three more cats in the neighborhood. I am retired and have no idea how the animals happened though in general I like animals more then most people.
Sayings from my Marine days
1. For those who fight for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know. Viet Nam
2. When America becomes too civilized to fight it will fall to the barbarians who aren't. SgtMaj Canfield
3. And when I get to heaven,St Peter I will tell. Another Marine reporting sir, I've served my time in hell.
Unknown found scratched on a canteen cup at a site where a Marine patrol had been wiped out on
Guadalcanal WW2
4. We are the willing, Led by the qualified, Doing the necessary, To protect the ungrateful. Viet Nam
Second version of that was unwilling, unqualified, unnecessary but still ungrateful.

Interesting facts:
63% of WW2 veterans were drafted. 62% of Viet Nam veterans (those that served in Viet Nam) were volunteers. It is forgotten that the huge majority of the US Army, which was the bulk of the draftees, was stationed in Europe due to NATO commits and in ROK (South Korea).
The most over-represented group in Viet Nam was Hispanics, followed by Caucasians. The under-represented group was Asian and even representation was blacks.
For my Canadian friends; more Canadians served in Viet Nam as members of the US military then US citizens who fled to Canada to escape the draft.

Personal Notes
I had a very good friend who was adamantly opposed to the war and refused to be drafted and was sentenced to jail for it. We remained and still remain good friends, he stood up for what he believed and was wiling to sacrifice for it; that is something I respect even if I disagree with the viewpoint. I do not have the same feelings towards those that fled the country and did not have the courage to stand up for their convictions.
My youngest daughter's high school history book had a chapter (very short one) on Viet Nam. It was titled "The American War of Aggression in South East Asia"; it was used one year because of the public outcry and a number of Social Study teachers threatened to resign if it wasn't replaced.

Not the way it is taught or represented by the media. The information is from the Selective Service web site

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it, but I forgive quickly.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch.
Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Idols
A Dog's Last Will & Testament:
Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask...
To a poor and lonely stray I'd give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.
I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in my human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand."
Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.
This is the only thing I can give...
The love I left behind. >
