Hey is it just me or are there more and more semi tracker trailers out on the roads these days? I am astonished on how many large trucks on the roads here in the Midwest…
Well summer is coming to a close. With it comes the Labor Day Weekend set for next weekend. But, also comes the end to the festival season. Buchanan, Michigan is our last one in the surrounding area. I think they call theirs the “Old Mill Festival” Now not knowing about other counties, cities and states and their festivals I believe there has to be some very weird ones out there. Does anyone know of any that are just way to weird to not make you laugh at the sound of them? I will start by one that was from the movie “ Doc Hollywood” Their festival was called the Squash Festival. But wait there are better ones then this, how about in Texas. Clute Texas has the Mosquito Festival in July. Here’s one in Wayne, Nebraska called the Chicken Show…this past July marked the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition and you guessed it the theme was….”Lewis and Cluck” No I am not joking. I think they have a web address of the following chickenshow.com. If that is not weird enough how about upping the stakes… I don’t mean those that you might need to drive into a Vampires Chest but, Garlic might come in handy for this next fest. It’s the Gilroy, California Garlic Festival located on the web at gilroygarlicfestival.com…I am running out of festivals that I know of with the exception of one we all can relate to. The Gerber Company is located in Freemont, Michigan and yes…yes there is a Baby Food Festival… also found at babyfoodfest.com. Now there are tons of fest’s that are too cool to forget: The Art on Cow Fest… The Blob Fest… The Burning Man Fest......hmmm that one I will not soon frequent reminds me of the film Wicker man color me out of that location!. Where was on…(Fire extinguisher in hand!) ah,…oh this sounds lovely how about the Camel Wrestling Championship? Why on earth would anyone…, that one does not even get a second chance with me..ok onward… Ok here is one for the Ladies… it is in Japan and will be my last festival named… Please feel free to add any that makes your skin crawl or tickles your funny bone. Oh yes the festival for the ladies…This one comes from Japan, it’s location is in Saidaiji, Japan it is called the Hadaka Matsuri Festival…the Naked Festival…but…this festival is not the worst of the fests…Japan also gives us this one…I will not divulge it’s meaning you will have to look it up, that of course is unless you already know about this fest and what it stands for… the Hounen Matsuri is from Komaki Japan… why on earth… apparently Men just have to show who has the Biggest…ah…hmmm….oh well where was I? Oh It’s Friday!!!! Whooo hooo!!! Happy weekend to all and to all a Great day.
