I grew up in a very small town in northern California that you've never heard of unless you are from it. I went to college and had fun partying for a year, then decided I wanted something better for my life. I stopped being a couch surfer, went back to my parents, and eventually got a pretty awesome job working for the county.

Everything in my life was good, except for my love life. I had a good job, good money, good car, good family and friends, but no love. Then I was at the bar one night in January 2008 with my friend Colleen dancing, and that's when I met Uwe. He was different than the other assholes around me and we connected immediately. He was German and on vacation visiting his brother and sister who happened to live in the same small city.

He had to go back home to Germany after two months of being in California. The day I took him to the airport in San Francisco was the worst day ever. I knew that was my other half leaving me on that plane. In May 2008 Uwe asked me to move to Germany to be with him. I gave up my life in California for a chance at a wonderful life with a man I loved.

In July 2008 I arrived in Germany to be with my fiance' and (future) stepsons. On October 10, 2008 we were married (in Germany) and I have been living here ever since.

We have plans on moving back to California to start a family sometime in the near future, but funds are holding us back (damn the recession). Until then, we will continue to enjoy our lives here in Germany.
