Doyle James Smith, 46, of Statesville, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Gordon Hospice House.Doyle was born in Yadkin County on January 2, 1962, and was the son of Charlotte Talley Smith of Turkeyfoot and the late William Morgan Smith. In addition to his father his was preceded in death by his uncle Alton Pete Smith and his grandmother and grandfather Alfred and Minnie Talley.He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jarvis Smith. Also his son, Joshua Smith of Union Grove; a brother, Manly Bunton of Turkeyfoot; a sister, Sabrina Vestal of Winston-Salem; Doyle loved Nascar racing, riding in the mountains and singing karaoke, mowing as well as spending time with friends and family. Doyle was very family oriented was a member of Grassy Knob Baptist Church and had faith. He was an employee of J. C. Steele & Sons for 23 years and was a volunteer fireman with the Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department.Services celebrating Doyle’s life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday at Houstonville Baptist Church with the Rev. William Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
