It's funny, you know
The ways of the mind
How thoughts can surface
That were buried in time
Moments forgotten
As we live day to day
Or painful occasions
We keep locked away
Just the smallest little things
A smell, a sound
Can trigger the memories
That don't want to be found
A word, a touch
An old familiar face
Sends them rushing back
From that dark, distant place
Mixed with different emotinos
Some happy, some sad
Filled full of joy
Some even make us mad
But they're all very helpful
Beneficial by far
It's the memories and experiences
That make us who we are
