Trail of Tears

The long horrid path that our people passed, Walking for days on end,
Realizing that things don't last,
Even broken hearts can't sometimes mend,
Walking and trying to survive,
Some just dying along the way,
From starvation, and sickness,
Try walking that trail today,
Some had been shot,
Some had been stabbed,
The winter so cold, but the sun so hot,
Some of the children were even dragged,
They walked along the same trail,
As if the journey would never stop,
You could hear their little wails,
And than they would drop,
Such a time should have never been,
For so many have cried,
Such a long and narrow trend,
Hard to believe how many have died,
We will always remember Our People,
The ones that took this Trail of Tears,
And when you pray to the Creator,
So many people don't even care,
That we are all supposed to love each other,
In this world great and small,
For we are all sisters and brothers,
So you should always have a listening ear,
To hear your brothers call
