Story of a Moonlit Stroll . . .
Her restless mood guided her evening stroll
In the wooded glen from her childhood
The moonlight cast shadows upon her path
And as she turned, there the visage stood. . .
The ghostly image met her eyes
Yet, it wasn't fear she felt but overwhelming sorrow
As tears glistened upon her translucent cheeks
She felt a strange kinship to this ethereal figure . . .
Why do you weep, M'Lady ?
Please let me understand
What haunts your spirit so
And what binds you to this land?
Take heed, child . . .'tis a heart-wrenching tale
Of innocence lost and shattered dreams
That causes my spirit to forever roam
This glen where no one heard my screams. . .
Long ago, on a night similar to this
I came to this very spot to meet my fate
Under the guise of love, to meet my betrothed
But found him murdered, I arrived too late
My own kinsman betrayed me
And hatched a devious plan
To kill my love and let me take the blame
And bloodshed would ensue as clan turned against clan. . .
As the daughter from a noble house,
My marriage was to unite the lands
But I foresaw an endless war instead
And the blood was upon my hands. . .
Since my love was brutally taken from me,
I felt I had no other choice save one
I grabbed the sword used to slay my love
And plunged it into my heart ~ the deed was done. . .
I had hoped to stop the war you see,
For I couldn't let his death be for naught
My sacrifice became my greatest sin
For my spirit is now bound and caught. . .
Until the day that my story is told
And finally understood by all
You were the first who didn't flee
Will you now answer my call?
Yes, M'Lady your story I'd gladly tell
Even if others think me mad
'Tis a heart-wrenching tale indeed
And it has made me ever so sad.
But the story needs to be told
And the message is powerful and clear
Love can stop bloodshed and war
Who will now listen and hear?
