So, maybe I jumped the gun a little on Spring..snow is forecast for Sunday, but I am not totally brokenhearted. The robins are back and geese are calling outside, too. I can't say how much seeing the grass does for me. I'm anticipating lazy summer walks by the lake and finally getting outdoors on a regular basis again. (No, I don't go out much in the winter, I just can't get into snow!Imagine that for a Pennsylvania native). I even washed my car yesterday (so, I should really do that a lot more frequently, I admit). I'm holding at bay the temptation to go buy a summer wardrobe, so far, I've behaved quite well, but Spring has just begun! ha ha.
In a month and a half I will be a free agent again and school will be a blur just like winter has been.
I ran into an old co-worker who said the bank she works at is hiring.. it's tempting, as it's about a buck more an hour. I used my cell phone to calculate the difference, then added up my current benefits at the call center, including Tuition reimbursement to get a feel for the pros and cons.
My boss keeps promising more money, but the reality of it is after seven years I've only advanced about $1.60 more an hour. The future doesn't look very good, either, but this friend said she's gotten two dollars more in a year. Doing the math, I feel rather foolissh, but I wanted to figure in the 21 days paid vacation, too before I go stepping on foriegn soil. The sad thing is, my current job is worth so much more in other states, but in Erie, you're dead in the water. Jobs are almost non-exhistant, and many aren't stable, even the top companies regularly lay off or downsize empployees, mine included as we were bought out last year by two investment firms and my job was almost eliminated.. now, I have triple the work, but the pay is the same.
With spring, perhaps I'll look closer at everything and maybe make some necessary changes before the new school year. I filled out my FAFSA tonight, so at least I have one piece of the puzzle in place.
