Laying in bed, two days after Thanksgiving, I get a phone call from my daughter, who is living in Alabama going to college. All I remember her saying is, "mom, Waynes dead". Wayne is my ex who I had left May 20th due to personal reasons. He was also my best friend and had been for many years.
The night before he had gone out to meet a friend and hang out. Well when he left to head home, about 10 minutes down the road, suddenly there were lights coming at him and he had no where to go and no time to do it anyway. He was hit head on and killed instantly. He was the 1st fatality of the season, thanks to a sorry ass drunk driver who survived because he was so damn drunk.
Now there is a 7 yr old little boy, who no longer has a daddy. A daddy who thought his son was the best gift from God. A daddy who had custody of his son because the judge knew he was the best parent for the child. I hope there are special angels for children left so suddenly.
Now there are two parents who no longer see their child smile and laugh. Parents who were given one son but for such a short amount of time. Parents whos pain is so intense that they would rather no longer be here without him. I hope they have angels by their side as well.
Now there are two sisters who have each other but no longer have a brother. And sisters who watch their parents wish they were dead. Sisters who have had to be strong when all they want is to curl up and cry forever. I hope there are special angels for these two wonderful women.
And there is me, who had left this man, that I still loved but felt we were harmful to one another. I was supposed to visit him in December, but he was ripped from me. No more visiting, no more talking, nothing. No more talking about memories that only he and I shared. Its been 2 months almost and seems a bit easier but the question I will always have is why, why do some leave us so soon and others, that are a waste of space get to keep living and hurting people. It isnt fair.
