| I'm faced with a huge transportation bill now that gas is jumping regularly and I am trying to cut costs. I looked into the possibility of buying a new car and trading in my Buick Century 2003 with around 190K miles for a new, more economical car. I currently have no car payment and don't relish this idea. My Buick goes through approximately $75 a week at the current $4 a gallon. If the gas continues to climb, I'm going to be working to put gas in my car. That said.. Please help me make up my mind. I could get a newer car that gets around 35 highway miles per gallon. Hopefully the savings in gas will defray some of the cost of the car payment OR I suck it up and keep paying the gas prices I am now and avoid a car payment. I looked into the possibility of buying a Hyundai Elentra. Also, there is a program offered for college graduates for a $400 discount on a new car and I could trade my old car in to lower the cost of the new one. What should I do? |
