I remember back when we were five
We truly were two of a kind
We got along famously, had a great time
We were best of friends, you and I.
The years went by, together in school
You were always there for me
Whenever you needed me, I was there too
Your friendship for me was 100% free.
High school came and went
We still kept in touch
Even though years went by
Our friendship was enough.
Even though our colours were different
That never mattered to us
We were sisters at heart
That indeed was a plus.
I heard of your accident
I was right by your side
I told you I treasured you, which of course I meant
You tried not to cry, that was your pride.
In a wheelchair you were now in
It didn't hold you back, not one little bit
You kept it up, your little chin-chin
You were the same, in your eyes I saw that glint.
I saw you at the DMV
We spoke of times present and past
You saw my newest little baby
We sure did have a blast.
My father called me with a query
He asked me of your middle name
I suddenly felt a little bit weary
He said with what he read, the name was the same.
I asked him what it was for
He told me to sit down
The news he read, I truly abhorred
The smile I had for you quickly turned to a frown.
He read to me the news of your death
I cried out loud for my best friend
How could you have taken your last breathe?
Could he really be right, that you met your end?
The best friend of all time was gone
How could it be?
I was totally beside myself, I now was just one
I will never again, my best friend see.
Cancer took Gina from this earth.
It ravaged her little body and soul
She gave her all, her true worth
Now up in heaven she is truly whole.
The years have gone by, about five almost six
The best friend one could be
The most wonderful friend, I will always miss
I think of you often, your friend forever, that is me.
I miss you Gina...my dearest and best friend of all time. You are missed more than you or anyone could ever truly imagine.
Your best friend in every way possible...
