I sometimes (ok, a lot of times) get annoyed with all this "chatspeak" stuff. If you want to say "you are" then type "you are" and not "ur". People seem to have a hard enough time figuring out the difference between "your" and "you're"; "there," "their" and "they're"; etc. My thought is that written expression will only get worse if people don't take the time to use proper grammar.
Also, most folks who spend a fair amount of time on this system can probably type twice as fast as the average mortal, so the "makes it go faster" argument isn't terribly persuasive.
So... should I just relax, give in and pop a cold beer and watch as the English language further deteriorates, or should I fight the good fight?? |
