I added to my musical instrument collection recently, my bass guitar was falling apart so i traded somebody my Fender Telecaster for a Line6 Variax 5 string bass.
Wow! what a difference it makes to have a bass guitar that actually works, my old one was truly fucked up, it was beyond the point where it was worth having repaired, it was dumpster bound.
This Line6 bass is truly amazing, it has the sounds of 24 different bass guitars lurking inside it and theres no hiss or anything, its like magic!
I have often been suspicious of technological advances, i have tried so many really crappy guitar amplifiers and gear thats supposed to be like the next big thing but then it usually sounds like doggie doodoo next to the older stuff so i was highly sceptical of this hybrid bass guitar that has built in digital simulations of, well, pretty much the complete history of bass guitars including a stand up bass and some very silly sounding synth basses, but then i plugged it in and it just delivered on its promises big time, this thing sounds bloody fantastic!
Im sure that if i a/b tested the digital simulations next to the real thing that the real thing would sound at least marginally better but hell, this thing sounds better than anything im accustomed to and the sheer amount of different sounds it has is just a total inspiration, this is easily the best buy i have ever made in a musical instrument.
