By now, you know that one of the thorniest problems that plagues DB-slayers is finding satisfactory ways
of disposing of their pestilent carcasses. The most effective, environmentally sound method is incineration by
high intensity flame, but it always seems to Creepy that we may be missing a bet by not finding other, more
practical uses for this most plentiful of potential resources. To this end, he is always experimenting with new
ways of getting rid of DBs. Every time he happens upon a new setting, he asks himself if and how it might
benefit from the use of DBs.
This is a case in point. The other day he visited a manufacturing plant that relies heavily on the smooth,
problem-free operation of a network of large gears. He was shocked when he heard how much a year the
plant spends on gear-lubricating grease alone Of course, it immediately occurred to him that maybe DBs
could be used as a cheap source of lubricant, so he came back the next day to see if he couldn't answer the
question. He is shown here dropping the first of four DB's directly into the gear-works.
Everyone at the plant, including Creepy, was concerned that rather than acting as a lubricant, the DBs
might actually gum up the works, so they held their collective breath as the gear teeth grabbed hold of and
ground the first DB to a slimy goo. The observers let out a vast sigh of relief when, to their delight, the
gears did not clog or slow down, but began to turn with uncustomary smoothness and quietness as the DB
jam got distributed throughout the system.
Eureka! Now if they can only figure out what to do about the smell.
