The Number of the Beast is described in the Book of Revelation In the Greek manuscripts, the Number is rendered in Greek numerical form or sometimes literally as "six hundred and sixty-six.

Scholars such as Dr. Ellen Aitken have speculated that the reference to this passage was a way of speaking in code about then contemporary figures about whom it would have been politically dangerous to criticize openly.

Many scholars believe that 666 refers to a Roman Emperor such as Nero (whose name, written in Aramaic, was valued at 666, using the Hebrew numerology of gematria, a manner of speaking against the emperor without the Roman authorities knowing).

Answer

Certainly, the number is believed to refer in code to a Roman emperor or some other enemy. Thus, it is politically and not divinely inspired. However, some early manuscripts give the number of the beast as 616. Either way, it can't really be called the "devil's number".

Answer:

The reason for the difference in the "number of the beast": In some of the early translations of Revelation from one language to the next, the numerology changed.

Love is a powerful emotion, celebrated and immortalized in symbols of love by cultures throughout history and around the world. Many images immediately convey the message of love, and they are generally taken from ancient associations and superstitions with nature, fertility and passion.

Red Heart: Centuries of use have made the heart a global symbol of love. Early beliefs that the heart was the center of the mind as well as the emotions helped the stylized heart evolve to the iconic symbol of love and passion that it is today. The heart shape could be seen in natural objects then associated with love, such as the heart-shaped seed of the silphium plant (an herbal contraceptive), the back and wings of a dove (associated with Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love) and the necks of two mating swans (created in negative space).

Apple: This delicious fruit has been a love symbol since ancient Greece, where it represented ecstasy and fertility. Apples were popular gifts given at weddings, and Greek mythology tells of how the Greek god Dionysus offered apples to Aphrodite to win her affections. The Celts believed that the apple represented love because the fruit lasted a long time after being picked. In China, apples are associated with affection and adoration.

Maple Leaf: While it is less well-known, the maple leaf has long been the symbol of love throughout Asia, particularly in Japan and China. In North America, the maple leaf was used to decorate the beds of early settlers to encourage peaceful sleep as well as intimate pleasures.

Love Knots: Many cultures used intricate knots as symbols of love. Celtic love knots were common throughout Europe and the British Isles and represented bound lovers and endless love, as the knots have no beginning or end. Young Muslim women also used to send secret love messages to young men via intricate knots.

The Ankh was, for the ancient Egyptians, the symbol (the actual Hieroglyphic sign) of life but it is an enduring icon that remains with us even today as a Christian cross. It is one of the most potent symbols represented in Egyptian art, often forming a part of decorative motifs.

The ankh seems at least to be an evolved form of, or associated with the Egyptian glyph for magical protection, sa. However, what the sign itself represents is often disputed. For example, Sir Alan Gardiner thought that it showed a sandal strap with the loop at the top forming the strap, but if so, the symbolism is obscure and so his theory has found little real favor early on. However, this interpretation seems to have received some acceptance among modern writers. It would seem that the ancient Egyptians called that part of the sandal 'nkh (exact pronunciation unknown). Because this word was composed of the same consonants as the word "life", the sign to represent that particular part of the sandal, was also used to write the word "life".

Symbol in Hinduism

The swastika (Sanskrit svastika, "all is well") is a cross with four arms of equal length,
with the ends of each arm bent at a right angle. Sometimes dots are added between each arm.

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been found worldwide, but it is especially common in India.
Its name comes the Sanskrit word svasti (sv = well; asti = is), meaning good fortune, luck and well-being.

The swastika is most commonly used as a charm to bring good fortune (in which case the arms are bent clockwise),
but it has a variety of religious meanings as well.

The right-hand swastika is one of the 108 symbols of the god Vishnu as well as a symbol of the sun and of the sun god Surya.
The symbol imitates in the rotation of its arms the course taken daily by the sun, which appears in the
Northern Hemisphere to pass from east, then south, to west. (It is also a symbol of the sun among Native Americans.)

The left-hand swastika (called a sauvastika) usually represents the terrifying goddess Kali, night and magic. However,
this form of the swastika is not "evil" and it is the form most commonly used in Buddhism.

The auspicious symbol of the swastika is very commonly used in Hindu art, architecture and decoration. It can be seen on temples,
houses, doorways, clothing, cars, and even cakes. It is usually a major part of the decoration for festivals and
 special ceremonies like weddings.

The Nazis adopted the swastika because it was understood as an Aryan symbol indicating racial purity and superiority.
(The Nazis propogated a historical theory in which the early Aryans of India were white invaders.) There may also be
a connection with the swastika's magical connections, for Hitler and other Nazi leaders were keenly interested in the occult.
