TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT. SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, 'SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, AND MY CORPS.' THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT. THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, 'CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE.' 'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn't sleep I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep. The leftovers beckoned - The dark meat and white But I fought the temptation With all of my might. Tossing and turning with anticipation The thought of a snack became infatuation. So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore. I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes. I felt myself swelling so plump and so round, 'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground. I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie. But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees.... Happy eating to all - Pass the cranberries, please. May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey be plump. May your potatoes 'n gravy Have nary a lump, May your yams be delicious May your pies take the prize, May your Thanksgiving dinner Stay off of your thighs. "Happy Thanksgiving!"

... given two hands to hold..Two legs to walk..Two eyes to see..Two ears to hear..Two lungs to breathe..BUT why only one heart?..Because the other one was given to someone else for us to find..

Too often we don't realize what we have until it is gone; Too often we wait too late to say "I'm sorry-I was wrong." Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones we hold dearest to our hearts; And we allow foolish things to tear our lives apart. Far too many times we let inimportant things into our minds; And then it's usually too late to see what made us blind. So be sure you let people know how much they mean to you; Take that time to say the words before your time is through. Be sure that you appreciate everything you've got And be thankful for the Little things in life that mean alot.

To trust is to believe without proof. It is to give without reservations everything that the heart contains and entails. To trust completely, I must be willing to become vulnerable. The walls which have previously surrounded my heart must crumble and fall. I must be willing to stand unguarded and unprotected before the dragon which is love, and believe with all my being that I will not be burned by the flames inherent to passion. This is the only way to love. This is the meaning of true love. Perfect and complete faith in the object of my adoration.

In dreams, I see your face and feel your hand upon my cheek. In dreams I touch you softly and kiss your sweet lips. In dreams, I hold you close to me, basking in the warmth and tenderness of your passionate embrace. In dreams I have eternity to show you what you mean to me... -fireflies that twinkle in the dark of a summer evening and sunsets that set the sky ablaze with a riot of vividly contrasting colors. -rainbows that spalsh across the horizon in breathtaking displays of gaudy brightness, and stars that paint the midnight sky with countless pinpoints of distant light. -daffodils in open fields that spread their golden glory over grand stretches of would-be-emptiness, and fragrant yellow roses that seem to gild the very air around them with cool, calm sweetness and grace. -laughing children that radiate joy with reckless abandon, and freshly washed and powdered babies with sweetly puckered tiny mouths and velvety skin and downy peach-fuzz hair. -long soft kisses in the rain that build in intensity with the fury of the approaching storm until they streak through my veins with all the passion and violence of the lightning that dances across the sky.
