I'm in an interesting situation right now with a friend I met back in March. Now I'm 24. This friend is 17. Now I just turned 24 a few weeks ago and she will be 18 in October and we haven't fucked, this isn't about the legality of things. You see I am a guy who's closest friends have always been older and since I hit my twenties I have seen that have a huge impact in my love life. Since twenty, I have not had any type of relationship with a female younger than me and the oldest female I have had anything serious with was 13 years older than me (was 21 at the time).
So knowing that, it is very intriguing to me to have any type of feelings toward this girl more than friendship yet I see my mind wandering to the what ifs and what not. This game has been going on for a few months now and I truly value our friendship, more than any what ifs. I love the fact someone like me who is old mentally can connect with someone so young cause they are mentally old as well. I thought I was more rare I guess... LOL.
My question is this, if she wants more than just a friendship is it fair for me to be in a relationship with her? I am 6 years older and while our lifestyles are similar and I realize I could be a great positive influence on her I am not naive enough to ignore the fact I could also be a negative one that could derail her life during a key time and set her back years. I also realize a relationship is not necessary to improve her life or derail it but I am leaving the decision to be friend or more to her so that is not in my control. I think she will pick friendship, I just worry bout what I will do if she doesn't. |
