The Bar
Beneath the stars
That shine so bright
I went to the bars
Late into the night
Into them I went
smoke filled the scent of the crowded air,
and a scene of despair.
low and behold!
a figure of light
she filled up my vision
and made my heart so tight
for her i spent
every dime and cent
from my pocket they came
the register they went
not to seem unseen,
from fellows i weened,
their loose change afloatin,
an their pockets i cleaned!
