A Chair Sits Empty
BY: Ronald F. Brown 11/22/2006
Family gathers on holidays to feast
Food a plenty for all to see.
Children playing and laughing in the yard.
Hugs and kisses from distant family now reunited from far.
All join hands to give thanks for the bountiful feast.
Yet in the midst of this Rockwell painted scene,
A chair sits empty, yes, yours soldier.
Angels of mercy guarding your deploy
Prayers from all us present employ.
Even though absent from us this day.
Our thoughts are with thee though oceans and lands away.
Be brave dear love one in battles unknown to us.
But return safely as your empty chair waits.
And arms without bullets belonging to us.
Wait to welcome you back.
