If only things could flow The way we want them to flow Cool weather to chill these 116 degree days Beach front access from my studio apartment Not too much, but enough $ in my bank account And a reasonable reason for me not to feel threatened By today’s surroundings… Waking up to a new day With loved ones to call and see What will become of me If what they need is not fulfilled And in reality, what is it that I need from me Shaking thoughts, because of non perfection The skies are perfectly shedding light The streets are paved as I step one step after another And the music is fine as it plays within my head No reason, but reasons arise from out of the ashes Paranoid I am not, but I must think before I act Working to my goal, as many pull my direction back But I can no longer stack up their needs For I alone know what causes my inhibition To move from here to there As you do to… Yet we blind lead our blinded conscious to a pseudo truth And watch as life passes us by I can no longer be left behind Too much life to live In so little time Enough of the moments that came to pass And the pain endured We are built to last With a source like no other But we may sit and plunder Why things don’t flow the way We wish they would, Perhaps because what we wish with our mouth Is not truly what we wish with our hearts and mind By Mark Peres
