I've been on a personal growth journey for about two years. I think the big 5-0 had something to do with it but it has been a really interesting journey. The biggest thing I have learned is that I don't have to take in everyone else's crap. I can be empathetic and helpful or even just listen but I don't have to react. That's a very enlightening discovery. I am still trying to figure out a lot of things about sexuality and what it means for me and other people. But through it all I find I like to connect with people and I especially like people who are different than I am and who have different experiences. Part of not taking on other people's stuff, for me, is not judging. In one seminar someone said picture in your mind a tree. Is it perfect? Or does it have gnarled limbs from nature? Is it ugly because of it's hardship or is it made more beautiful by its survival? Why are we kinder in our thoughts to a tree than a fellow human?

Something I think about...but that's just me.
