Anomaly started out in the basement of a guy named Bill. The members were Matt Garrett, Vince Lawson, Mike Gallagher and Vanessa Wyatt. Matt played guitar and Vince played the bass Mike played drums (when he came to practice) and Vanessa sang. As things progressed we stopped practicing at Bill’s and started practicing at Matt’s. Then Vanessa moved and we got a new drummer named Greg Trent. We practiced a lot with Greg and Matt started singing. Greg decided he wanted to start singing with Matt so we called in a new drummer named Steve Seese. The first show that was played by Anomaly was at the Chancellors Run Teen Center. Then when Greg started singing, Anomaly played at his birthday party. After that, Greg dropped out of the band for personal reasons. So it was just Matt, Vince, and Steve. Anomaly started playing shows and writing their own songs, so they decided to make a CD. In March 2000 Anomaly produced their first CD entitled "Matt, Vince, Steve". It was a success with over 500 copies sold. Then Anomaly decided to see about adding another guitarist. They tried several with no success then they tried out Derek Szczyglowski. It worked. Derek was the right style and over all clicked with the band. Anomaly then did a second CD which unfortunately was not a success and never attempted to sell the CDs. Anomaly started to become well known in the area receiving 1st place in 2 local band battles, and played at a club called "Nations" in Washington DC.Soon after, the original members of Anomaly (Matt, Steve and Vince) got back together and started playing wherever there was an opening. Anomaly went on a bit of a break at the beginning of 2004, reevaluated and got back together to play every show possible. We played at least a show a weekend. The summer of 2004 was one of the most successful summers for Anomaly by far. With the line-up of Matt Garrett, Vince Lawson, Steve Seese, Will Kwedar, and Steve Crane. We started a new anomaly favorite of playing booze cruises which many people came to attend. Then at the end of the summer Matt Garrett left for welding school, Steve Crane went Berkley school of music to make his already amazing guitar playing better, and Steve Seese went to Towson to be a complete nerd. We all thought it was over, but we have come together again and we're going to have another great summer playing the mix of pure rock, reggae and ska that everyone has come to love.
