I’m a parent, school volunteer, A friend, A sister, a daughter,a confidant, a niece and whatever else in between...


I’ve been up since 5 a.m., made breakfast, packed
lunches, cleaned the house, read bedtime stories,
and finished extra work. It’s 1:00 AM. exhausted. And,
in about six-and-a-half hours I will begin the whole
process …again.

I find myself saying ’Stop this ride, I want
to get off!’ I —have found myself at the bottom of the
pile when it comes to taking care of my needs.


sooner or later I won’t be of much use to anyone else—or
to myself. I must take care of my own basic needs
before I can attend to the needs of others. What’s more,
being busy is not necessarily the same as being productive
with meaningful activity.

Putting myself first sounds too selfish or too hard, I insist that
they get enough sleep. No one does it for me. I already know
that I should take care of myself--but often have trouble figuring
out how to do it...there just isn't enough time for ME.
