I don't usually do this but this shows that a man and woman can be best friend and nothing sexual...My friend posted this on Facebook... The heading at the top of my Facebook says "What's on your mind". Please bear with me, as really need to express my feelings right now. My apologies. This may get a tad lengthy. One of the hardest things I've had to deal with in my life, besides the passing of mom and dad, has been saying goodbye to great friends, knowing that there is that strong potential that I may never see them again. Third grade - Curtis Cannon. Sixth grade - Brian Gries. My high school graduation. 1995 - Brian Symms. Well, today, I had to say goodbye to my very good friend, Robyn. She is now on her way to Massachusetts, with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, to begin a new chapter in her life. I've only known her for less than three years but in the past year on so, we'd developed a really strong friendship. And yes, even though we worked together, there was an unspoken understanding that we didn't want it to go any farther. That's what made it special. No qualms, no expectations. Just enjoying each others company. She laughed at my stupid jokes. I'd have to hunt down her cup of Mountain Dew because she forgot where she sat it. I got a hug when I got to work and another when she left from work. Some people probably thought we had something going on. Well, sorry to disappoint those of you. I did get to spend alot of the last two and a half days with her and her family. That, I'm thankful for. We had McDonald's before we parted ways and as we were walking out, the overhead music playing was Huey Lewis & The News, "If This Is It". How fitting. I'm going to miss her tremendously. You'd think at my age, 56, it wouldn't hurt so bad. It's the same as it was when I was 9 and 12. The heavy heart will eventually dissapate but the memories will last a lifetime. Robyn, I'm glad I got to know you and I'm happy we became friends. Thank goodness for Facebook. At least we can stay in touch. I hope y'all have a very safe trip and are happy in your new surroundings. I'll miss ya. Godspeed.
