you traverse the paths and plans of the apocalypse
destination unknown
You'll know when you get there.
Some have called your eyes incandescent
Others a transparent blue
But I know the color matters not
Ancient eyes. They have seen much
I saw you once.
Riding the streets of Rome with Caesar
How handsome you looked in your demi-armor!!
Red plume upon your helmet, and classic profile worthy of a work of art.
You did not notice me among the crowd that had gathered lining the street side to view the parade.
I was just another one. One of many who'd come out to watch the procession.
But this was one once upon a time.
Again, I saw you on a crudely formed wooden platform or stage
spewing forth politics and the way of the new world.
So many gathered. Attentive and devoted. Hanging on every word and theory.
I was the one in the back, on the fringes of the gathered crowd.
No, you probably didn't see me. There were so many there.
You could say I've been watching you.
In honesty, it's more like I've been where you are.
In many lifetimes.
You've always managed to strive to be in the public eye.
I've tried to fade into the woodwork or blend into the sidelines.
We differ. Thus, this screams out our humanity and shows us our inability to be sheep.
