What are you waiting for?

This is an excerpt from a Fallen American Soldier from my Home Area, Keizer, Oregon. He Sent this email to his freinds and family on Oct. 13, 2006. "I know that you all are in the right place this weekend. I miss you guys so much, I love being around you all, it makes the world seem like a better place. I wish I could be there but as you know I'm in Baghdad, Iraq right now, as you read this myself and gellow blue spaders of Charlie Comapny 1/26 infantry are protecting and serving our nation and keeping the freedom that every American has. We all would like to say thank you for supporting the troops, without you guys it would make our jobs harder, so I want to say thanks for all the prayers and support. If I have learned one thing well lets face it I have learned a lot but this is what I have to say... you never know how much time on Gods great planet that you really do have. So don't waste time, if you want something you have to seize the moment. I have learned that these people don't have much but they tkae pride in what they do have. I never thought that little childrent would play in the streets filled with trash. The world without people like you is a scary place but with Gods help we will make it out of this crazy place. Well I just wanted to say you all are the best. Take care of yourself's. Task force blue spaders salute you all, keep up the good work." -PFC. Ryan Jeffery Hill 26apr 1986- 20jan 2007 from your fellow Oregonians.... Thank you.
Longest-serving defense worker, 94, is retiring after 65 years of service Nevada- He served at depot since US entered World War 2 HAWTHORNE- Louis Dellamonica, retiring after 65 years at the central Nevada military ammunition depot- a record for federal defense workers- was honored Friday with awards and letters of praise from President Bush, military brass, members of Congress, and others Department of Defense officials say Dellamonica, 94, is the oldest and longest continuously serving department employee on active service since the agency’s creation in 1947—six years after he started working at the depot in 1941. The Hawthorne Army Depot was controlled by the Navy at the time. The remote facility dates to 1930. Dellamonica, an electrical engineer, will retire officially at the start of the year. He has been out on sick leave for nearly a year, after breaking a leg. Co-workers who attended Dellamonica’s retirement party Friday call him a sharp-minded man who has helped change his community and the country her served. “It’s a historic milestone because he came to work right after Pearl Harbor,” said Jody Gonzales, an administrative officer for the depot base commander. During his career, Dellamonica designed a building to disarm ammunition, and helped design innovative missile guidance and control systems, according to depot officials. Because of his knowledge of the depot, he’s regularly asked for information and advice. “When we can’t solve a problem, we go to Louie,” said Lt. Col. Hardee Green, the current depot commander. “Just to pit it in perspective, I’m the 36th commander that he has served under,” Green said, “He’s served under 32 of 36 commanders.” Dellamonica isn’t sure what he’s going to do next. “I don’t know. I guess just take it easy, I hope,” he said. Originally written by Tara Godvin (with the associated press)- Taken and copied from Salem, Oregon’s Statesman Journal.
Yesterday was an interesting day…. 2 was world “deaths” and 2 winners in sports… and Monday Night Football!!!! First the today news…. Not really much news in it… but it is something to write about…. Today- Monday, November 06, 2006 at 7pm is Monday Night Football with the Seahawks vs. the Oakland Raiders… that should be an interesting game. Now on to the News from yesterday. Yesterday was the running of the prestigious New York Marathon, and for the first time in 10 years, an African male did not win. That honor went to Brazilian man who ran the marathon for the first time, and with that honor also went the honor of being the first ever South American person to win the NYM. On the female side of the race, last year’s winner, Jelena Prokopcuka became the first woman in more than a decade to win two straight titles in New York. And outside the world of sports…. Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussein was found guilty and sentenced to death by Hanging for Crimes against Humanity. Him, his half-brother and another former Iraqi official all received death, while 2 others, I believe, got apx 15-20 years and one other was acquitted. His defense team is appealing….. In the US. Former Ku Klux Klan Imperial Wizard Samuel Bowers, who was serving a life sentence for the 1966 bombing death of a civil rights leader, died in a Mississippi state penitentiary. Don’t ask me why I wrote this, I normally wouldn’t, but for some reason I felt compelled to.
