Womb of Open Wounds
Her lips never moved
When I heard her say:
"You can't chase your muse
Unless it's running away."
You only lose love
When you force it to stay
And obey what she calls
Human Nature.
Her eyes never faltered
When I replied in kind:
"You can only run from life,
Never your mind,"
And when we look at all
That we've left behind,
You may find merely
Animal behavior.
I never reacted,
As she assumed
That she could only walk
Within unlocked rooms.
A fragment of magic,
A heart that's entombed
In the womb of open wounds.
