There has been conflicting positions on why the Taliban regained leadership in Afghanistan. Some believe that they out maneuvered the USA, NATO and Afghan government. While others believe that no invading force and collaborators could ever sustain power in this country. I have seen countries' politicians embrace outside influences to attain power and lose the people's respect and support. In the end most provinces in Afghanistan surrendered without much resistance once NATO forces left.

A: The Taliban hide, survived, regrouped and outmaneuvered their opposition.

B: The Afghan government and army was doom to be defeated for the simple reason they sided with an invading force.
