Here I go again, so much to say, so little time. If you made it thru part 1 and you are looking at this you are truly a fine friend. Unlike me. ;)
The 2nd part of all of this surge in real-life activity is by far the more interesting and pleasant. After all, I have always had several family crises going on, and typically I do work a lot just by nature. But the other stuff has most definitely sucked up almost every other waking moment for the past 5-6 weeks.
It seems that now I have a roommate. Not only a roommate, but a houseful of lovely creatures. I call her Captain Sweetheart, and she came with an 8-year old living doll known as Sweet Pea. Throw into the mix a pair of cats named Gracie & George, and The place is full. Before, it was just me and my little buddy Garfield the cockatiel. And a lot of quiet solitude.
Amazingly, the bird and cats are getting along great. He likes for them to sit next to his cage and then he gives them little birdie kisses and talks to them. If they go away to nap and do cat things, he squawks at them until they come back to stay nearby. It is so sweet and heart warming to watch them interact. The cats are also getting used to me and my sinister wheelchair. They like to come into the bathroom and watch me do whatever I do in there. They love the bathtub and shower, go figure.
The Captain & I have been friends for over a year, and we work together. We have been hanging out on the weekends when possible, as an escape from her overbearing husband. This guy has anger management issues, and when he graduated from threats and menacing to physical contact, the Captain pulled the plug. Good for her! I detest anyone that treats women and children without respect.
She was stuck in a bad place. her deadbeat husband had run up a lot of debts and let them get behind on payment, she had nowhere to turn. I offered her my spare room, welcomed Sweet Pea and the kitties, so now she lives here.
Sweet Pea has made friends with the kids out here, and will be going to school with them later this summer. She loves it here where there is space to run & play, ride her bike & scooter, and the next door neighbor with a huge garden. She is fast friends with my 73 year old lady next door and helps her work in the dirt.
The Captain helps me with housework and laundry plus other stuff I can't do easily from my chair, and I am the cook and kitchen help. We carpool to work every day, and it has been a lot of fun so far. I tell everyone she is my angel sent to keep me from wasting away into lonliness and boredom. Plus I get a bonus mini-angel to boot!
I will post a photo of everyone real soon. Since the big surge with work, grandson, and then the big move for Captain, things are beginning to slow down a bit. I hope to have at least some time every week to visit cherryland and catch up with my friends & family.
So, finally, I know I have been away without notice, and I know some of you have missed me and perhaps worried some. I have also neglected my family (other than the son & grandson), real world friends, and fallen so far behind on email correspondence that I will likely not ever catch up on that. Just know I have been happily busy filling up some holes in my life.
I am truly a lucky man to have people that think about me and that miss me when I am not around, and I thank you all. I will try to be a better friend in the future. If you could all see & feel how much happier it is in my home and world, you would understand and forgive me. I am truly blessed, and I am a lucky man.
