What is a friend list?
To some it's a way to build relationships. To others it's an ego boost and a way to feel popular. And some people use their friends list mainly as a way to build CherryTap points. None of these are inherently wrong to me.
Some of my friends keep in touch on a semi-regular basis. I've got some friends that I never hear from and that's fine. Some just roll through my photos giving tens and never comment or PM me, but that's cool too. If people need CherryTap points then feel free to use me in that way. I'm not a big fan of CherryTap points anyway, but that's another blog post.
Some CherryTappers complain about never hearing from the people in their friends list either in a PM, IM or comment. These are usually the same people I never hear from.
Let's be realistic. If you have a list of 200 friends, ask yourself how many times you've actually gone through and touched base with all 200 of them? Never? Then why would you expect that from others?
When you've got a huge friend list it's a great ego boost, but you've got to be ready to back it up. If you really expect the people in your list to keep in touch then you'd better be ready to do the same. And if you can't put the effort into maintaining your friends list then start cutting back to a more manageable size. I try not to have more friends in my list than I can manage and even then I tend to only touch base with those who have done the same for me.
I know it's frustrating to not have 2,000 comments or 2,000 messages when you've got 2,000 friends, but in the end the real problem might not be them. It might be you.
Personally I don't care one way or the other. I'm just here to chill.
