JohnnyK's blog: "Two Tree's Apart"

Take a step back.

Taking a step back and looking at the changes in society has often be a wake up call for every generation since even before we started writing our own history.  I often wonder if the first man who brought us fire was told he was "evil" or bringing the fall of civilization as they knew it, or if he was told that his ways were wrong and would interfere with the natural order of things.  Never had I thought that even I, being as open minded as I sometimes even have to strain to be, would fall into a category as to where I have to completely disagree with the progression of our society.

So with the greatest attempt of trying to comprehend or understand where others are coming from I sit back and listen.  I observe the ebb and flow of our humanity looking for some epic devinity of reason as to the path of man.  Usually coming to the crossroads where it is best to just agree to disagree with some of our other members of society.  For instance, the situation of racism in this world.  I myself have come to the agreement with my mind that yes there is a difference between races in this world.  In my opinion the differences are basic cultural diversity that dates back to our heritage, however, the core similarities between these races has broadened beyond that and should be embraced with acceptance and rememberance of everyones struggles.  Now as much as there are those who are unlearned (intelligent and far from ignorant, just unlearned in the matter) as to the fact that EVERY race has had a moment in history where even they were slaves, or forced against their will to do things they would otherwise find repulsive.  Whether your ancestors are Jewish, African, Italian, German, Asian, etc....  at some point in time in history your race was held back by another and you were canonized for your beliefs.  Yet we still have yet to get pass the basic hatred for another race and learn to forgive those who come upon us with such hatred and distaste.  I was once told that we all bleed red.  I have yet to see otherwise.  Our brain generally works equally and have yet to see otherwise.  We have the same loves, the same hates, the same thoughts, feelings, and pain.  Yet we are unable to coexist.  This to me I find hard to comprehend as to why.  You take two extremely young children who just learned to crawl and you put them next to each other and they react as if they would with a member of same age of their own race.  No Difference, no hate, no judgement.  That is how it should be at every age. So racism, as always, in this society has roared across the great divide with a trecherous omen of apathy.  Shame on us for letting this happen.

Now we have our schools, local and federal government oppressing the people of rights granted to them by signed doctrine in the nation that is the beacon for freedom.  Where a young man comes home from school and after doing his homework posts something on a social website for whatever reason on how he disagrees with the actions of his school and upon finding out the school expels him.  When did the school's all of a sudden gain the right to dictate their brand of justice into the private life of citizens?  Who gave them the power to oppose what we do on our own time?  It is the right of every citizen to voice their opinion and thoughts in a manner they deam necessary as long as it does not directly interfere with the rights and privilages of other citizens.  The school does not justly have the power to "quiet" the people.  They are the ones that should be incouraging our youth to stand up for their rights and teach them that they can speak their minds.  Shame on us for letting this happen.

Shame on us for letting everything turn into political correctness.  When a girl who is asked to do a mural along side many other members of her graduating class paints said mural as the life of a man who starts as a child progressing through the stages of his life toward marriage with a woman and child and then is told her mural is offensive because not everyone can "relate" to the mural.  When did this become offensive.  It is art and is left for interpretation.  If you see something offensive then maybe you should be the one talking with a psychologist as to why you would find such a piece offensive.  Shame on us for letting this happen.

In short, todays society has a lot of growth.  We have fallen backwards in the evolutionary chain of life and with disgrace and disdain I sit back and observe, once again trying to cope, comprehend, and search for truth where there is no reasoning.  Shame on me for letting this happen.

The Jet

So there I am ontop a roof taking down shingles when I hear this boom... look up and heading damn near right to me is a fkn Jet... Quickest I ever got off a roof.. I was lucky enough it didnt hit the house I was at but not but 50yds away and it crashed into an apartment complex.  Surreal.. thinking I am glad there were no reported deaths... miracle...

Two Tree's Apart

Two Tree's in a Field

by. John V. Kiger

Two trees apart

in two separate fields

one blossomed with pedals

delicate with grace

one flourished with leaves

grounded strong and green

both trees magnificent

in their own separate ways

yet only a few feet apart

divided by fate

an old wooden fence

with not a sight of a gate

Two trees apart

in two separate fields

from distance I stood

admiring the differences

in awe and thought

both stood tall and pure

both had their own place

not a single similarity

from trunk to sky

yet so close to touch

extended in branch

just within grasp

Two trees apart

in two separate fields

the closer I approach

the changes appear

along old wooden fence

in the middle field

both trees seemed to smile

in awe I wonder how

until I was only a few inches away

I noticed the reason why, ever so clear

it brought to eye

the happiest of tears

Two trees apart

in two separate fields

taught me a lesson

brought me a tear

for what I saw I could never had hoped

beneath old wooden fence

an epic tale spoke

a tale of old

a story a new

for when I looked down

I saw both roots spiraled round

each grasping other

mingled and bound.
