Beautiful masks
with smiling faces
and caring eyes
kind words of support
genuine hugs offered
all belong to people
I have known a life time
Some of which I called "friends"
Today, many forgot to wear
their faces I have come to know
Left behind with their Christian ways
For the first time
I saw them for who they truly are
Seeing exactly what I mean to them
When ones life changes so dramatically
you begin to open your eyes to many things
I have often said so many times, "That will never happen to me"
Funny, but it could and I'm here to say for myself it did, many times over.
