| In matters of the heart... do you trust your gut, or do you trust past experiences? By trusting your heart, I mean trusting that just because someone makes a mistake, if you love them enough to forgive them, then they will love you enough not to hurt you again. By trusting your past I mean, I, as most have been burnt by people in my past, and with those people I learned what the saying "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on my" really meant. So if I go with my past, and what other people have done in a way it's living and learning... but not giving the new situation another chance. If I trust my heart/gut, then I'm taking a leap of faith, but in turn, risking being fooled again. So, trust my heart/gut or learn from others? |
