My 2 year old son is mostly deaf in his right ear. We are currently involved in speech therapy to hone his speech skills and fight off the delay. The most important thing right now is to ensure that people are talking on the right side of him where he can hear best.
The speech therapist suggested some kind of visual cue to people of his "good" ear to remind all of us to talk there more. The only thing we've come up with so far is to pierce his ear. It's not something either me or his father are against, and it would fit his personality (little punk that he is).
Questions is if someone told you to talk on "the side with the earring" do you think it's something that would catch on and be a handy visual cue or not help at all and just look silly?
(Please pass on the smart remarks about piercing boys ears or little kids ears in general. If you think the piercing is a bad idea, then SUGGEST something else please.) |
