So I foresee in the near future , the procurement of a rifle. I'd like either a Ruger Mini 14, A Ar-15 variant or maybe a SKS.

It would be used for target shooting and home protection. I know with the AR-15's there's a crazy amount of modifications to be made. The Ruger Mini 14 reminds me of the M1 Carbine (another rifle i'd love to have,such history associated with it 0r a m1 garand).

So i'm not up on ammo prices or availability(but I read a while back that .223 was hard to come by for a while). What rifle would you go with?
