So, before I begin, let me preface this by thanking all of you for your Comments about my Daughter. She's an incredibly beautiful girl, and I am damned proud of her.
The thing is, my daughter is a lot like me in many ways. We have similar tastes in music, movies, etc - And we think so much alike it's rather scary.
Here's the funny thing though. My daughter was raised away from me.
You see, when she was 3, her mother married another man, and moved away. Despite assurances that I'd never be kept away from my daughter, 6 months later suddenly the phone number I had was disconnected, and despite many attempts, I couldn't find them.
Seems that the new Husband somehow was listed as Father on the Birth Certificate - Despite the fact they didn't even KNOW each other at the time. I'm guessing he didn't like me much, because my Daughter now had HIS last name (Still does). Even more sad, her mother left him when my daughter was 7 - And left her with HIM.
So, she was raised by neither of her natural parents. On top of that, even though she was told by her mother that I was her bio father, the man insisted in making up lies about me. Over the top stuff like saying I was sleeping with my Mother and my (then) 11 year old Sister. He tried EVERYTHING he could to make her hate me and her mother.
It didn't work.
A couple months ago, I got a message on my Myspace. It was my daughter, letting me know where she was. We got in phone contact immediately, and found out how alike we are. She told me about all the BS through the years. I quickly made arrangements to go visit her, to get to know my daughter.
Once I was there - I felt complete. After a day, I simply asked her to come back home with me, so she could meet the rest of her family, and find out how loved she was. (Her "other" family treated her like dirt)
She's with us now. I am so happy and proud, I could burst.
And that my friends, is the story. Never let anyone tell you genetics doesn't help influence growth.
