I took a new friend out for a date who is out of work. Even though I live on a meager disability income, I spent time and money traveling by car, train, and subway to meet her, paid for meals for her 3 boys, $20 for gas for her van, and $80 for our lunch, which we both enjoyed. She had free tickets to see 2 movies. I chose AMERICAN GANGSTER, she chose SAW 4. We both enjoyed AG and then went to see S4. Which I found to be sick and revolting full of pointless gore, torture and sadism. When I couldnt stomach anymore, I told her I was leaving the theater. She asked me to wait outside until she was done watching the movie. I bided my time watching movie previews in another theater in the Cineplex but returned to ask her to please stop watching the movie and join me outside. She refused, saying S4 was educational. When the movie was over she announced that she wanted me to take a ride with her so I could meet her mother. I agreed but while she was driving I was deciding what to say to her. I asked her to pull over so we could talk and when she did I told her I decided that I wanted to go home that she was selfish and ungrateful and that I was terribly disappointed in her. She wanted to argue with me but I kept insisting I had had enough. She drove me to the train station and it took me about 2 depressing hours to get home (more time and money spent). I called her when I got in and she insisted on telling me that she was more disappointed in me (twice); both times I told her this is not a contest. I find it ironic that she is a churchgoing tee-tolling nonsmoker who is repelled by X-rated movies and is intolerant of my preference for all these so-called vices. Although we are the same age, when she gets up on her high horse, I call her granny. Believe it or not, she is a very sweet lady who I have always been fond of until last night, but Im reconsidering our friendship. Whats your opinion?
