The Myth and the Majesty of Trucking in America

The minds of people in America have been so washed with dirty media water that no one is talking about the truth regarding trucking in America. Name one thing that we have in our daily lives that was not brought to us by a tractor trailer truck? If you can think of one write me and let me know.

The majesty of trucking in America has been clouded by old myths and popular old media that has been taken to be true. Remember Smokey and the Bandit starring Burt Reynolds? No? Look it up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokey_and_the_Bandit the story puts “Smokey” better known as the highway patrol, against the truckers who are given an offer to make an illegal delivery. The “Bandit” Burt Reynolds accepts the offer and recruits help from other truckers to accomplish his task. This movie has put into the minds of most of America what truckers are like and what trucking is all about. Not this movie alone that has done this, but others that came later and the general lack of understanding and knowledge as well as interest from the American public in the truth about the trucking industry.

Today, the trucking industry has the most opportunity for people seeking employment, the most growth of any American industry; the most widely used industry by all other industries, and is the most un-appreciated industry in America.

Do you know a trucker? Have you thanked them for doing their job safely? Would you if you could? You see them on just about ever road that you travel, sometimes you have to pass them, and sometimes they have to pass you. They are going to all of the places that we shop, if they did not, we would not have anything to buy.

When you see a truck on the road you’re on next time, give them a wave. Let them know that you appreciate them doing their job safely and timely. Don’t tailgate behind them, and don’t pass them too closely. They are forty ton vehicles traveling at the speed of traffic. They cannot stop as fast as you do, and they need much more room to move. Give them space and respect, and they will more safely perform their jobs. Don’t buy the myths and the lies; we need our trucks to keep on trucking, so that America can keep on growing.
