Darrell Lance Abbott a.k.a. Diamond/Dime Bag Darrell. Born 8/20/66 in Arlington,TX. Died 12-08-04 while playing on stage with Damage Plan, some goober got past security got on stage and shot him several times ending his life suddenly, at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus,OH. He is ranked as a top ten guitarist of all time. He formed Pantera in 1981, but didn't find successs until switching from Glam Metal to Thrash, then Groove Metal. In 1990 after they hired Phil Anselmo, and Dime snubbed joining Megadeath, they released Cowboys from Hell. In 1992 Darrell dropped th Diamond name n adopted the Dime Bag name and Pantera released vulgar Display of Power. That propelled the band to super stardom. Dime wrote a long running Guitar World column compiled in the book, Riffer Madness. His first concert was KISS and he was a member of the KISS army. His heroes were Ace Frehley and Toni Iommi. We became close friends in 2002-2003, when pantera was at it's end cause that's when Rex Brown bought a house in my town and Dime was there alot. Phil came to try to make up but just ended up going off.
