Got a call from my three year old daughters teacher yesterday...
ME: Hello.
TEACHER: Good evening. I'm calling to inform you that your daughter was very disruptive in class today.
ME: Not again... Can you tell me what happened?
TEACHER: We were learning Mary Had A Little Lamb. Your daughter got very excited when she heard the news and told the class this was her very favortie song. When I started singing the first part however, her mood changed. She crossed her arms and told me very loudly to stop because I was doing it wrong. When I asked her what she meant, she informed me that it is supposed to start with "Stevie Ray playing his guitar for a while before he sings."
ME: (begins laughing hysterically)
TEACHER: She also told me that I got the words wrong when I said the lamb's fleece was white as snow, because "Stevie Ray says Black as coal, yeah, NOT white as snow."
ME: (trying to stop laughing so that I can apologize for the disruption - FAILING)
After several minutes and some deep breaths, I eventually explained (between snickers) that Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Mary Had A Little Lamb is one of my daughters favorite songs and she listens to it almost every morning on her way to Grandma's house. I apologized for the disruption and told the teacher that I would talk to my daughter about the situation.
Needless to say, my daughter will NOT be punished for this outburst!!
