Strange Dream

And I think that might be the last time I drink a few margaritas and then have a glass of red wine in the same night. Not only did I wake up at 4am and stay wide awake for an hour only to doze fitfully until I had to get up for work but I had some really weird dreams. The dream started at home, though it was more like I was watching a flashback of two earlier memories. The first had happened about 2 weeks after moving. I was carrying a box down the hall and froze as I saw a ghost. It was a gentleman in an older style suit and he looked like I was seeing him in black and white. He looked a bit like Barnabas from the show Dark Shadows. He was reacting to what looked like a fight that only he could see and though I called out he didn't hear me. A moment later he disappeared. The next flashback happened again while I was walking through the hallway, about a week before the dream itself took place. I saw the gentleman again, this time looking more solid and leaning against the railing for the stairs and looking down. I stopped and underneath my feet the floor creaked. He turned his head toward me as though I had startled him said something. I shook my head and then he said, "You can see me?" I nodded and he disappeared again. After that I had the sense that I was now in the present time in the dream. I was talking to this ghost and he was completely solid. We stood in the kitchen and he needed my help for something, mine and Jacob's. I told him that I wasn't sure if I could convince Jacob to help even if the situation was this dire. The ghost told me that maybe if he pretended to be a corpse and then came back to "life" it might go over easier and Jacob might agree. I have no idea why I thought that would work but I agree. He asked me to beat him with a solid blunt object so that it looked like he'd been murdered. I hit him with something that caused a lot of bruising and then he laid on the floor. I went upstairs and curled back up in bed. Later on in the night but still before dawn Jacob woke up and said he wanted a cigarette and a drink. So we went downstairs and I tried to pretend that I had no clue what was in the kitchen. He didnt' seem to want to go into the kitchen to I poked my head in and then tried to give the best performance of my life. I tried to scream (but true to my dreams all that came out was a rasp) and I tried to get Jacob's attention. He then ran into the kitchen and saw the very solid and dead (looking) ghost on the floor. He checked for a pulse and told me that the gentleman was indeed dead and started to reach for the phone to call 911. I saw the ghost's hand twitch and screamed. Jacob told me it was a normal thing for bodies to twitch after they died. No one questioned how someone had been murdered in the kitchen and all the doors and windows were still closed and locked. So, Jacob again reached for the phone and now the ghost started to get hammy and writhe on the floor with his face contorted and tongue sticking out. This was when Jacob apparently decided I was in danger and attacked the ghost. The ghost gave up all pretense of being a corpse and fought back. I started shouting, trying to get them to stop so everything could be explained. And that was it. My last memory before I woke up was standing very close to them and watching the two of them try to wrestle the other to the floor. So yeah, no more tequila followed by red wine. :)
